ELIGIBILITY
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 13th birthday by June 17, 2009, is a legal resident of South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA handicap index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 7.4. Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event, by the CGA or the host club.  The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. All players must conform to the “USGA Rules of Amateur Status” as specified in “The Rules of Golf”. For complete residency and eligibility requirements, refer to the CGA Tournament Manual at the CGA website (www.carolinasgolf.org). Field size: 88 players.

ENTRIES AND ALTERNATES
All players, including those exempt, must complete an official entry form. Online entry applications may be completed at www.carolinasgolf.org.    Fax, e-mail, telephone, incomplete and illegible entries received before the opening date and after the closing date are not accepted.  Exempt players are accepted at time of entry. Non-exempt entries are accumulated for the entire open/close window. The final field is comprised of players with lowest handicap indexes. Alternates are ranked according to handicap index.  The CGA is not responsible for errors or delays by any mail courier or Internet service provider. Entries are only accepted between the open and close dates as stated above. Confirmation of acceptance is sent to players when their status is determined.  Status may be checked at www.carolinasgolf.org.  The entry fee must be paid by each player and must accompany this form. Only one entry fee per check.  Make check payable to the Carolinas Golf Association.  Detach, sign and mail the entry form with the $85 entry fee to the CGA, PO Box 319, West End, NC 27376. A player whose check is returned for insufficient funds may be disqualified indefinitely from CGA competitions. Players who "Did Not Show" (DNS) or "No Card" (NC) are suspended from next year’s South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship.

REFUND POLICY
Entry fee refund policy schedule:
Open Date to Close Date: Full refund minus $25.00 administrative fee if entry accepted into championship.
Day after Close Date to Three Days from Championship Date: 50% entry fee refunded regardless of reason.
Two Days and Within of Championship or Qualifying Date: No refund for any reason.

RULES
USGA Rules of Golf govern play.  Questions will be decided by the on-site Rules Committee whose decision will be final. Notice to Players and local rules are posted at host club and distributed at the starting tee(s). The CGA reserves the right to alter the conditions or schedules as stated, including alteration of the stipulated round(s) at any time during the championship including sectional qualifying. The competition is closed when the championship trophy has been presented. Special requests for starting times or pairings are not granted.

COURSE FEES; GOLF CARTS; CADDIES; SPECTATORS
Stroke play qualifying cart and range fees are not included in the entry fee. CGA will pay cart and range fees for all match play rounds.
Cart rental is mandatory for practice rounds. Competitors have the option to either walk or rent a golf cart during championship rounds.
Caddies are allowed for championship rounds. A player may provide his own caddie. Caddies will not be available at host club.
Caddie/Spectator Cart Policy: During the play of a hole, either the player or his caddie may ride in a golf cart but not both at the same time. Spectators are not allowed to ride in a player’s golf cart at any time. Club owned spectator carts are not allowed.

FORMAT AND TEAM COMPETITION
Championship format is 36 holes of stroke play to determine 32 qualifiers for match play. The defending champion is seeded number one for match play if otherwise eligible. NOTE: Championship match has been reduced to 18 holes. A team competition is held in conjunction with stroke play qualifying. Three or four competitors from the same club comprise a team. The lowest three scores count each round.  When more than four competitors from the same club are in the field, the lowest handicap indexes are used to determine the team unless the CGA is informed otherwise.

PRIZES
Champion receives a trophy, merchandise and possession of the permanent championship trophy for the ensuing year. Prizes are awarded to the medalist, runner-up, semifinalists, quarterfinalists and members of the winning club in the team competition.
