ELIGIBILITY
Entry is open to any male or female amateur golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday by June 19, 2009, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member or their parent is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA).  Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event, by the CGA or the host club.  The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct or cell phone use during a stipulated round. All players must conform to the “USGA Rules of Amateur Status” as specified in “The Rules of Golf”. For complete residency and eligibility requirements, refer to the CGA Tournament Manual at the CGA website (www.carolinasgolf.org).

ENTRIES
All players, including those exempt, must complete an official entry form. Online entry applications may be completed at www.carolinasgolf.org.    Fax, e-mail, telephone, incomplete, illegible, or entries received before the opening date and after the closing date, are not accepted.  Exempt players are accepted at time of entry. Non-exempt players gain entry into the championship on a first come first serve basis.  The CGA is not responsible for errors or delays by any mail courier or internet service provider. Entries are only accepted between the open and close dates as stated above. Confirmation of acceptance is sent to players when their status is determined.  Status may be checked at www.carolinasgolf.org.  The entry fee must be paid by each player and must accompany this form. Only one entry fee per check.  Make check payable to the Carolinas Golf Association.  Detach, sign and mail the entry form with the $60 entry fee to the CGA, PO Box 319, West End, NC 27376. A player whose check is returned for insufficient funds may be disqualified indefinitely from CGA competitions. Players who "Did Not Show" (DNS) or "No Card" (NC) are suspended from next year’s NC Junior Championship.

RULES
USGA Rules of Golf govern play.  Questions will be decided by the on-site Rules Committee whose decision will be final. Notice to Players and local rules are posted at host club and distributed at the starting tee(s). The CGA reserves the right to alter the conditions or schedules as stated, including alteration of the stipulated round(s) at any time during the championship. The competition is closed when the championship trophy has been presented. Special requests for starting times or pairings are not granted.

FORMAT; YARDAGES
The championship format is match play with an 18 hole of stroke play qualifier to determine the seeding for match play.  Defending champions Hayley Hammond and Justin Clement will be seeded number 1 for match play.  The top 63 boys from the stroke play qualifier will advance to match play.  The top 31 girls from the stroke play qualifier will advance to match play.  Boys’ will compete at approximately 6500 yards, par 70.  Girls’ will compete at approximately 6000 yards, par 72.

AGE DIVISION; PRIZES; TEAM MATCHES
Boys’ and girls’ will compete in divisions based on gender.  There are no age divisions.  Trophies are awarded to the champion, runner-up, semifinalists and medalist in the boys division; to the champion, runner-up, semifinalists, and medalist in the girls’ division. The Harry L. Welch Trophy is held for the ensuing year by the boys’ champion.  The Linda Marsh Trophy is held for the ensuing year by the girls’ champion.  The girls’ champion will be invited to represent the CGA in the Mid-Atlantic Challenge Girls’ Team Matches at Mid Pines Resort in Southern Pines, NC on August 1-2, 2009.  The boys’ champion will be invited to represent the CGA in the Carolinas-Virginias Junior Team matches at Boonesboro CC in Lynchburg, VA on August 14-16, 2009.

EXEMPTIONS; QUALIFYING
Players in the following categories are exempt into the championship.  Those boys’ not exempt may gain entry into the tournament proper by qualifying at one of the locations listed below.
 
Girls’ Exemptions
All entries received by the closing date will be accepted.  No qualifying.

Boys’ Exemptions
1.  Top 32 from 2008 NC Junior Championship.
2.  Top 4 from 2008 NC Junior Boys’ 13 and Under Championship.
3.  Top 100 on the TYGA NC Boys’ Rankings as of May 4, 2009.
4.  All 2009 NC High School State Individual Champions.
All exempt players must complete an official entry form by the closing date. 

Boys’ Qualifying
In the Boys division only, those not included in the above categories have the opportunity to qualify on June 11 at Cardinal CC in Pine Level, NC or on June 11 at Sapona CC in Lexington, NC.  A minimum of ten spots will be available at each site.  The final qualifying numbers will be determined after entries have closed.
