ELIGIBILITY
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday by July 30, 2009, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member or their parent is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA). Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event, by the CGA or the host club. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct or cell phone use during a stipulated round. All players must conform to the “USGA Rules of Amateur Status” as specified in “The Rules of Golf”. For complete residency and eligibility requirements, refer to the CGA Tournament Manual at the CGA website (www.carolinasgolf.org).
ENTRIES
All players, including those exempt, must complete an official entry form. Online entry applications may be completed at www.carolinasgolf.org. Fax, e-mail, telephone, incomplete, illegible, or entries received before the opening date and after the closing date, are not accepted. Exempt players are accepted at time of entry. Non-exempt players gain entry into the qualifiers on a first come first serve basis. The CGA is not responsible for errors or delays by any mail courier or internet service provider. Entries are only accepted between the open and close dates as stated above. Confirmation of acceptance is sent to players when their status is determined. Status may be checked at www.carolinasgolf.org. The entry fee must be paid by each player and must accompany this form. Only one entry fee per check. Make check payable to the Carolinas Golf Association. Detach, sign and mail the entry form with the $60 entry fee to the CGA, PO Box 319, West End, NC 27376. A player whose check is returned for insufficient funds may be disqualified indefinitely from CGA competitions. Players who "Did Not Show" (DNS) or "No Card" (NC) are suspended from next year’s NC Junior Championship.
REFUND POLICY
Entry fee refund policy schedule:
Open Date to Close Date: Full refund minus $25.00 administrative fee if entry accepted into championship.
Day after Close Date to Three Days from Championship or Qualifying Date: 50% entry fee refunded regardless of reason.
Two Days and Within of Championship Date: No refund for any reason.
RULES
USGA Rules of Golf govern play. Questions will be decided by the on-site Rules Committee whose decision will be final. Notice to Players and local rules are posted at host club and distributed at the starting tee(s). The CGA reserves the right to alter the conditions or schedules as stated, including alteration of the stipulated round(s) at any time during the championship. The competition is closed when the championship trophy has been presented. Special requests for starting times or pairings are not granted.
AGE DIVISION; PRIZES; TEAM MATCHES
Boys will compete in divisions based on their age as of the last day of the championship. Divisions will be boys’ 16-18, boys’ 14-15, boys’ 12-13 and boys’ 11 and under. Boys’ 14-15 and boys’ 16-18 divisions will be eligible for the overall championship. Trophies are awarded to the overall champion, winner, runner-up, and third place in each division. The boys’ overall champion and runner-up will be invited to represent the CGA in the Carolinas-Virginias Junior Team Matches at Boonesboro CC in Lynchburg, VA on August 14-16, 2009.
FORMAT; YARDAGES
The championship format is 54-holes (27-holes for boys’ 11 and under division) of stroke play. Each division will be cut to the low half and ties after 36 holes (no cut for boys’ 11 and under). Boys’ 14-15 and boys’ 16-18 divisions will compete at approximately 7,100 yards, par 72. Boys’ 12-13 division will compete at approximately 5,900 yards, par 72. Boys’ 11 and under division (9 holes each day) will compete at approximately 5,338 yards, par 72.
EXEMPTIONS; QUALIFYING
Players in the following categories are exempt into the championship.
11 and under division: First 18 entries received. NO QUALIFYING
12-13 division: First 36 entries received. NO QUALIFYING
14-15 & 16-18 divisions:
1. All making cut in 2008 Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship.
2. Top 8 in the 2009 NC Junior Championship.
3. Top 8 in the 2009 SCGA Junior Championship.
2. Top 50 on the SCJGA boys’ rankings as of June 8, 2009.
3. Top 50 on the TYGA NC boys’ rankings as of June 8, 2009.
4. All 2008 and 2009 US Junior Amateur qualifiers.
All exempt players must complete an official entry form by the closing date.
Boys’ 14-18 Qualifying:
Those not included in the above exempt categories have the opportunity to qualify on July 20 at Hidden Valley C in Gaston, SC or on July 23 at CC of Johnston County in Smithfield, NC. A minimum of ten spots will be available at each site. The final qualifying numbers will be determined after entries have closed.
